What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion has become an increasingly popular non-invasive treatment for skin rejuvenation. The process of a microdermabrasion facial involves the abrasive action of tiny crystals, along with a suction action, this gently removes dead skin cells. The aim is to reduce fine lines, minor scars, wrinkles and age spots and to make skin smoother and younger-looking. It is good for uneven skin tones, fine lines and wrinkles, acne and some scarring and pigmentation. The procedure is simple, quick and painless, so an ideal choice for a regular treatment.

How does it work?

Our Carlton microdermabrasion machine draws up fine crystals using vacuum pressure to remove dead skin cells. This process exfoliates the outer layer of the skin which helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and minor scars. Microdermabrasion is chemical-free and non-invasive, revealing younger, healthier skin from the first treatment. The skin's appearance is further improved through increased collagen and elastin production as your body produces a new layer of skin.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

No, it does not hurt, although, you may feel mild discomfort due to the minor tugging on the skin from the suction effect.

What ages are appropriate for microdermabrasion?

There are no specific age restrictions. It is suitable for either males or females over the age of 12 up to adults. Mature skin over 70 may have a slightly higher risk of bruising and skin abrasions.

How often should I have treatment?

One microdermabrasion treatment will exfoliate and remove dead skin cells, unblock pores, help to improve blemishes, blackheads and dry skin, revealing a clean, bright complexion. Microdermabrasion is a progressive treatment, meaning you have improved with each treatment you have.

After treatment

Some mild redness is quite normal and disappears quickly up to five days after the newly exfoliated skin should feel soft and silky.
